To celebrate her 50th unbirthday, Janelle chose to host a Mad Hatter tea party for her girlfriends at the Brisbane Sofitel hotel. What a fabulous theme for an event stylist, I loved getting creative with this one and collaborating with some of my fav vendors!
On the guest tables we used square faux moss mats as our base and added a selection of vintage books, coloured bottles, clocks, moss rabbits, and skeleton keys. We specially designed table numbers to resemble playing cards and made table signs with quintessential Mad Hatter quotes in gold frames. Vintage tea sets with a vanilla cupcake adorned each place setting with “eat me” toppers. The absolute hightlight of each table were the floral arrangements! We sourced giant tea cups and saucers and spray painted some of them gold while leaving others in original colours of blue, pink and white. The florals were designed so brilliantly by Bella Bloom Floral Designs to represent a spring garden in a cup using a stunning range of seasonal bright florals. To finish the Mad Hatter look we hired in mismatched white vintage chairs.
The Lolly Buffet is one of our favourites and so much fun to put together. On a dusty pink satin base we added faux moss rocks, keys, books and florals. We used lots of beautiful glassware filled with lollies for each guest to take home. The client wanted her grandmother’s vintage tea cups incorporated into the design and so we displayed these as the centrepiece underneath a glass cloche. Two gorgeous floral arrangements in gold giant tea cups sat atop gold cake stands. For the backdrop we used faux moss runners and spray painted various sized plastic picture frames and attached with glue. On the day we had fun with the floral designer adding loads of fresh florals including tulips and roses.
